Fear-No-More Zoo in Fiji
 |

Naitauba Island |
Adi Da Samrajashram (also known as Naitauba Island) in Fiji is the second location of
Fear-No-More Zoo. After Adi Da Samraj took up residence here in 1983, a group
of non-humans was gradually developed around Him here. Fear-No-More Zoo on Naitauba
comprises a variety of parrots, both local and imported, as well as a breeding
and research program for the Fijian banded Iguana and the crested iguana (both
endangered species).
We also hope to initiate a breeding program for some
of the endangered Fijian parrot species at some point when staff and funds allow.

Male & female Fijian banded iguanas |
 |
The Fijian banded iguanas have been successfully bred on Naitauba for the last
fifteen years.
A group of the much rarer crested iguanas were also acquired some
years ago, and have begun successfully breeding as well. Working cooperatively
with the Fijian environmental authorities, and with researchers abroad, it is
hoped that we can positively aid in the collective understanding that will help
with increasing and maintaining wild populations of both of these beautiful species.
The crested iguana is one of Fiji's National Treasures, and it is a great honor
that we are able to help in its preservation.

Fijian musk parrot |
The beautiful coral lagoons
surrounding Naitauba Island are a haven for tropical fish and other sea creatures.
The entire island is regarded as a wildlife sanctuary and preserve. Fijian residents
from neighboring islands like to bring us animals that are in need of a safe life
away from hunting and human harm. We recently accepted and released a clutch of
young turtles from another island into our reefs to give them a safe start in
life.
May the Fijian iguanas and all of the native Fijian wildlife be
preserved from harm and extinction through the understanding, by all, of their
sacred importance to life in Fiji, and in the world.
